I’ve decided to make it an annual post with the same title from now on.

Reviewing my 2011 to do list, I can shamefully say that I accomplished 1.5 out of 6. i.e. blogging more actively and on-going attempt of reviving my blogshop.

Thanks to postaweek, I’ve managed to produce 30 posts in 2011, which is considered my personal best eversince I started blogging. But if you do the math, it was more of postamonth than postaweek. Way to go!

As for my blogshop, I’m now doing what I can to revive it, albeit a slight change in the nature of business. I shall talk more about it when it’s really up and running. Wish me luck.

So here comes the 2012 to-do list.

• To have my online shop up and running.
• To have a smooth and peaceful wedding planning & preparation. And of course, a beautiful wedding reception.
• To put more effort into beauty regime for flawless skin.
• To be more thankful of the things I have *courtesy of the forever-content fiancé*
• To be more patient and caring towards my parents.

These will definitely keep me busy whole-year round. Not sure if I can manage all them at one go, but I always like to aim higher

Vision (or should it be ‘mission’ instead?) : to be a hot mum!

Source of inspiration : my manager, who after giving birth to her second son a few months ago, still looks darn good strutting in heels, cladded in high-taste working apparels, having the latest hairstyle and sporting designer’s handbags such as Chan*l and Louis V*****n.

Yeah, you bet she’s darn inspiring! It’s like having Victoria ‘Posh’ B closer to reality.

*note to self: remember not to focus on the brands but focus on the ‘looking good’ part instead.

My own 11.11.11 was historic enough. For the first time in my life, I finally joined a mass run event. In Singapore, where many people are obsessed with health, fitness and (of course) looking good, a mass run event is a common affair. It’s normally sponsored by a big corporation. There is Bull Charge by SGX, Standard Chartered marathon, army half marathon by SAFRA and NIKE human race to name a few.

I chose to join Bull Charge 5km run just because my company supports it. So registration is free of charge for employees Oh btw, you normally gotta pay to join this kind of event. They will give you the official event t-shirt to wear on that day and some goodies.

The run started at 545pm, so my colleague and I left office at around 4pm to go to the venue. On our way there, to our no surprise, we saw some wedded couples taking photographs complete with the whole entourage of friends and families. It’s really a historic date after all.

I didn’t run a full course in the end, but I still felt the sense of achievement b’coz I’m not the kind of person who goes to gym regularly or runs such a long distance if it’s not a life or death matter. Two kilometers was enough to make my rusty joints felt like breaking >.<

PS: It’s also my bf’s dad’s birthday today. Happy pocky day! *as quoted from bf*

PPS: Sadly, there aren’t many such historic dates left. We are reaching 12.12.12 and month no. 13 doesn’t exist.

Remember George O’Malley from Grey’s Anatomy? He was involved in a traffic accident which caused his face to be damaged beyond recognition. And there was Eddie Britt from DH who drove straight to an electrical pole and got electrocuted to her death. Last but not least, Charlie Harper from Two and a Half Men was thrown under a train in Paris metro and exploded like a balloon full of meat.

I chanced upon a very interesting article on this topic a few days ago. It made up a few fantasy death stories on some famous TV characters who have been in too-many seasons like Derek & Meredith Shepherd from GA, Ted Mosby from HIMYM, Leonard Hofstadter from TBBT, and Vanessa Abrams from GG.

Oh I’ve got to really share some of the excerpts here. It’s sooo funny!

Ted Mosby

We are gathered here today in memory of Theodore Evelyn Mosby *btw, the name itself is an apt portrayal of this char*

…It was a tragic way to die for one so dedicated to parenting — being ripped limb from limb by his own children in a berserk and frenzied attack as they yelled “For Pete’s sake, just tell me how you met my mother!!” It turns out no matter how much a son and daughter might love their father, there comes a point when being forced to sit on the couch and listen to meandering stories for 6 years on end without any toilet breaks gets to be a little too much for anyone…

…although the mother of Ted’s children turned out to be “your uncle Barney from that time when he was a woman”, we can all feel comforted when we picture Ted trudging, in his red cowboy boots, towards the light.

Leonard Hofstadter

We are gathered here today to honour the life of Dr Leonard Hofstadter, who was tragically killed in a freak laboratory accident involving his congenital lactose intolerance and the open flame of  a bunsen burner.

Even though his contributions to science were negligible–I’m just quoting his best friend here– Leonard was a good guy whose lust for life was exceeded only by his lust for this hot blonde chick next door, the hot sister of his friend Raj, and, ahem, Miss Leslie Winkle.

I’m sure that, upon reflection, Dr Sheldon Cooper will eventually see fit to withdraw the lawsuit against him for violating the terms of the roommate agreement once again (Article 12, Section 43: Rommate must give at least 2 months’ notice before expiring).

And now, with the assistance of his close friend Mr Howard Wolowitz, it is with deepest respect that we proceed to launch Leonard’s ashes out into space, in accordance with his last will and testimony.

Please bow your heads as we meditate on his last words: “I shouldn’t have had that burrito with sour cream.”

It was a Friday night and, one-by-one, my colleagues left office. And then there were just two. My kind colleague offered to wait for me to finish my work since we were the only 2 ‘survivors’ on the whole floor. But my work wasn’t close to an end so I bid her a happy weekend. With music blasting from the radio, I worked alone for the next one hour or so.

I switched off all the light and headed to the lift lobby.

In case you are wondering, this is not  a horror story.

The lift went down straight from 21st to 1st floor without any interruption. The silence is somehow deafening.

Walked slowly towards the train station.

755pm

The train was packed with people, as usual, but I somehow managed to get a seat in the corner. It was noisy and crowded, all right. But I felt just alone.

815pm

Alighted at my station. Bought a pack of meal for dinner at a nearby food place and then waited quietly for my bus to come.

835pm

Boarded the bus home. Sat quietly by the window.

845pm

Reached home. Greeted by silence as my housemate is out of town. Turned the TV on to find a show to watch while eating dinner. Checked my phone for any calls or message but there wasn’t any.

Then it hit me.

If a freaky alien decided that it was a good time to abduct me at 735pm, nobody would have realized that I was missing until it’s too late!

Say, if a person who actively tweets or posts in facebook is abducted instead, somebody will definitely realize it almost in the next minute *not because the person tweets about the abduction, though*

Well, I know I’m not exactly a socially-active person, both in physical and online world. Call it high-level of privacy, not anti-social. I’m sure there are many people out there who are just like me.  I just hope that aliens don’t target us.

• I love  purple, but I bet the husband won’t want a gay bedroom
• Bf loves blue, and I like blue. It’s a calming color for bedroom. Ok,set!
• Light blue on 4 walls looks too pale
• Dark blue on 4 walls looks too dark and depressing
• 2 light blue walls and 2 dark blue walls look kiddish
• Light blue and white is a good combination.
• Dark blue and white is also a good combination.
• 2 light blue walls and 2 white walls scream for dark-wood furniture.
• But dark wood furniture is bad. Cockroach can easily blend in.
• 2 dark blue walls and 2 white walls it is! And we can have common & inexpensive light brown wooden furniture.

So here is how it should roughly look like:

Then I went to ‘inform’ my bf on the choice of our future bedroom design, which he duly noted.

Btw, we are not hunting for a house yet, not married yet, and have not even decided in which year we want to get married yet. See how far my imagination and thought can go on a lazy Saturday night? You may call it daydreaming, but I prefer to call it “planning for the future” :p

Girl: Yay! No more bad toilet papers! *happy for 2 seconds, then:*  Eh you mean the half-used roll in our toilet now is the last roll?

Guy: Yes.

Girl: *starts panicking and setting a reminder on her phone to buy a toilet paper tmr* Why didn’t you tell me earlier? How if we finish it today and didn’t have time to buy a new one? You need to tell me when we are down on our, at least, 2nd last roll

Guy: Ok. We are using our 2nd last roll.

Girl: Now u are bluffing me.

Guy: Ok. Then what do you want me to say now?

Girl: *thinking hard in silence*……. Actually I don’t know.. :p

Moral of the conversation:

Girls can be difficult to understand. Not just to men. But sometimes to other girls and their own selves as well *guilty smirks*

*LOL* It was really hard containing my laughter when I read this article on newspaper in MRT this morning

During my grandma’s funeral ten years ago, all my uncles and aunts were crying their eyeballs out, except for one uncle. He said to us: “You know why I don’t cry? Coz I have no regret at all. I know I’ve made her happy when she lived. I’ve bought her all the things she wanted. I’ve treated her with respect. I’ve been a successful man and that made her proud. Crying beside her coffin won’t do any further good.”

Many thinks he’s heartless, but I think he’s right. Of course it doesn’t hurt to shed some tears. But what’s most important is: you should treat your loved ones with lots of care and love when they are still around.

Just remember: it does not make you a good son/ daughter when your last words to your parents were “I love you” if you’ve not been treating them well when they were alive. So kids, you’d better start pouring love to your parents with all your might right now if you haven’t been doing that.

Oh how great would it be to wake up to this tune on a Sunday morning. Maybe I should set it as my alarm clock’s ring tone.
